Survey Says…

internship4What do you think employers most want to see on a recent college graduate’s resume?

A high GPA? A relevant major? A degree from an impressive university? According to a survey recently published in The Chronicle of Higher Education, employers are looking for internship experience.

The survey’s key findings indicate that “An internship is the single most important credential for recent college graduates to have on their resume in their job search among all industry segments.” Internships and work experience during college were rated as four times more important than the prestige of the student’s college.

In fact, the industries that most valued internship experience were media and communications, popular career avenues for WRD and NMS students. So for us, it’s particularly true that “students don’t just want internships; they need them.”
