Discover is looking for a Technical Communicator to join their Riverwoods, IL office.

Job Description 

Plan, write, and provide ongoing support for the Discover Financial Services Capital Plan by partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) in Finance, Treasury, Legal, and Corporate Risk. Develop annual plan documentation that complies with regulatory requirements as well as the supporting documentation. Gain understanding of the Capital Plan and its purpose and provide insights into which processes, models, policies, and procedures will provide clear, consistent, and accurate information to support it. Identify areas of risk within current documentation and work with SMEs to address them.


• BA in English or Journalism, MA preferred
• Minimum 4 years’ professional writing experience
• Excellent writing skills, including basic structure and style
• Excellent listening skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Strong presentation skills
• Project management experience
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
• High level of self-motivation
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Clear focus on timelines, including the ability to manage short deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the business
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio and the ability to learn software packages quickly
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
• Experience writing policy and procedure documentation
• Experience with financial services
• Familiarity with banking regulations

Lean, Six Sigma and/or demonstrated process improvement expertise a plus
