Teaching and Tutoring

ESL Instructor — City Colleges of Chicago

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is seeking adjunct faculty for their Adult Education program.  CCC is the largest community college system in Illinois with seven campuses and six satellites across the city.  Part-time ESL instructors will develop class syllabi, materials, and curriculum, attend regular meetings within the Adult Education program, and participate in staff development programs.  This position requires a BA or BS in a related field with an MA or MAT preferred.  Candidates must have experience in adult education and ESL.

Writing Center Director — The College of Saint Rose– Albany, NY

The College of Saint Rose, a private, liberal arts institution in upstate New York, is accepting applications for a Writing Center Director.  The director will collaborate with academic departments to create and implement writing and reading programs that address student needs.  This position will also be responsible for managing graduate student writing tutors and participating in the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee.  Candidates must have at least two years of experience working in a college writing center and at least one year of experience teaching college-level writing.

Professional Writing

Grant Writer — Adler Planetarium — Chicago, IL

The Adler Planetarium seeks a Grant Writer to build proposals to individuals, private foundations, and federal agencies.  This position will work collaboratively across the museum to develop a case for support and communicate that case to the donor community. Three to five years of relevant experience in a non-profit is required with grant writing experience preferred.

Editorial Associate for Social Media Communications — University of Illinois — Urbana-Champaign, IL

The Public Affairs department is searching for an individual with strong writing and editing skills to communicate information about the university through digital media.  This position will be responsible for researching and creating strategic messages to transmit to targeted audiences.  This person will serve as a resident expert in social media platforms and must have experience developing content for social media.  Applications must be submitted by January 31, 2014.

Staff Writer and Communications Coordinator — The AIDS Foundation of Chicago

This position will be a part of an editorial and design team at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago that produces print and digital content for the organization.  This person will oversee all communications for AFC.  Minimum qualifications include three years of writing experience and knowledge of media production.  Applicants must provide a sample portfolio.
