Creative Writing Instructor — Writopia Chicago
Writopia is an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit that runs creative writing workshops for kids across the country. As the program expands its reach, they are searching for instructors and assistant instructors for Chicago workshops. In the short term, they’re looking for instructors and assistants to help with some in-school workshops in February, one in Lincoln Park, the other in Wilmette. But they are also looking to build a roster of Chicago instructors to help with a variety of workshops (in-school, after-school, summer) coming later in the year. Teachers are half camp counselor (fun and funny, warm and engaging) and half savvy editor/teacher (astute, insightful, serious, open, sensitive). English Instructor — Wenatchee Valley College — Wenatchee, WA
This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach English composition and Literature classes. Class assignments may include day, evening, and distance courses. The position is scheduled to begin during the Fall 2014 semester. Candidates must have completed an M.A. and should have experience teaching academic writing, preferably to diverse and/or multi-lingual audience.
Lecturer in English — Dongbei University of Finance and Economics — Dalian, China
Dongbei University seeks lecturers to participate in their English language curriculum. The newly revised and expanded intensive English language curriculum is scheduled across the initial two years, though continued support is provided in the latter years. Key targets include preparing students to effectively study in an English learning environment at university level and to pass the IELTS tests for entry into the UoS programmes. The ideal candidate will have proven university teaching skills and research potential, along with relevant professional experience. Writing Center Assistant Director — California Lutheran University — Thousand Oaks, CA
Under the direction of the Writing Center Director, the Assistant Director will have primary responsibility for managing the daily operations of the Writing Center, including scheduling all aspects of center instruction as well as supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate writing tutors and directly providing writing consultation as needed. The Assistant Director will assist in: the professional development of writing tutors; assessment of programs and instructional design; and in coordinating instructional plans for writers with complex needs. This position also provides direct instructional support and requires assigned teaching responsibilities, depending on need and expertise. Candidates should have two years of experience working in a university writing center and one year of experience teaching English courses at the university level. Additional experience or interest in TESOL is desirable.

Researcher/Writer — The HistoryMakers — Chicago, IL
The HistoryMakers is a growing 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to creating a national video oral history archive of well-known and unsung African American HistoryMakers. The HistoryMakers seeks to hire a full time Researcher/Writer to complete detailed research for its video oral history interviews. Responsibilities will include such research, as well as conducting donor research, assisting with grant proposals, and evaluating completed interviews. Candidates must be strong writers who are adept at proofreading.
Staff Writer — The University of Chicago
The Office of the Vice President for Enrollment seeks a staff writer to research, write, and edit a variety of communications, publications, and reports for the College Admissions and Alumni Relations offices. Under supervision, this position may assist with writing and/or editing technical/scientific material for manuals or journals. This person will work in collaboration with College Admissions team members to inform prospective students, parents and educators of the University of Chicago’s Admissions programs through written work and in person presentations. Travel may be necessary, and candidates must be available to work nights and weekends.

The Digital Content Writer will work closely with a diverse range of DTC’s clients and will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing custom content in the form of articles and blog posts. The Content Writer should be able to develop ideas consistent with client marketing and SEO goals, conduct interviews with clients and industry experts, produce original content and adapt voice and messaging to match the clients’ style and audience. Applicants should have a commitment to delivering accurate, edited, and professional grade content on short deadlines. The right candidate for this role is a prolific writer who can conduct necessary research to create short-form digital articles and blog posts quickly while thinking strategically about how to engage diverse audiences through meaningful content. He/she should have a pulse on and understanding of the digital communications landscape and how social media sharing plays an important role.
