Communications Internship

Since 1904, Ravinia Festival Association has been Chicago’s “sound of summer,” a place where you can meet up with your friends, have a wonderful time and hear some of the greatest music in the world. We’ve got stars on the stage and stars in the sky, and it’s all within your reach. But there’s more to Ravinia than merely the world’s greatest music.

Ravinia communications department is seeking a candidate for internship positions to assist in daily tasks involving all facets of the department including public relations, marketing, publications, graphic arts, multimedia and social media.

Dates of Internship

Summer 2014 ( May – September )

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in a related field
  • A strong desire to work in arts administration with a focus on communications, along with knowledge of performing arts and classical music
  • Strong organizational and computer skills required
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Must have a car and a clean driving record – internship requires running errands (mileage reimbursed)
  • Ability to work both in and outside of normal business hours including evenings and weekends

Projects may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Package and distribute promotional materials
  • Digitize and maintain important press clips
  • Assist with media sponsorship execution and maintenance
  • Assist with management of external press and photographers
  • Assist in writing copy for press releases, blogs, commercials and other marketing opportunities
  • Assist in proofreading all communication materials
  • Maintain and organize advertising clips, web promotions and relevant press materials
  • Meeting and event planning
  • Research and maintain artist and publicity materials
  • Offer general administrative support to the department
  • And more…

We want you to develop an arsenal of new skills that will not only make you an invaluable member of our team, but any future team you join. You will work closely with different facets of the Ravinia communications team and learn a lot about what goes into putting on the show. Every member of our team brings a unique flavor to the department, what will you bring?


Interviews will be held in person at Ravinia, however other arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis.

  • $8.25 per hour
  • 40+ hours per week
