This position will assist the marketing and media director with press outreach, communications, marketing, media partnerships, social media, and program implementation, among other duties. Responsibilities include coordinating traditional and social media content; assisting in acquisition of content for various programming efforts including print, audio and video; sorting, archiving, and tracking press clippings; fulfilling press requests; writing and editing press releases and newsletters; managing editorial, advertising and marketing schedules; coordinating development of promotional and outreach materials; creating and sending electronic communications, updating events details on the website, and general administrative duties.

The Publications Editor is responsible for strategizing, developing and implementing the Office for Research’s outward-facing website, which fulfills the goal of the University’s Strategic Plan regarding ‘Discover’ and the focus on research. It will be used as a major tool to support Office for Research fundraising goals. The Publications Editor is also responsible for the development and implementation of a monthly electronic newsletter that reaches a wide variety of internal audiences (faculty, students and staff). Preferred candidates will have demonstrated experience translating complex scientific concepts into lay language, excellent journalistic judgment, and familiarity with publication style guides.
