Reading/Writing Center ELL Specialist — Augustana College — Rock Island, IL

This 10-month position is annually renewable and emphasizes a commitment to undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring roles of a faculty member in a liberal arts setting.  Specific responsibilities include providing individualized tutoring sessions to students in the Reading/Writing Center with an emphasis on English Language Learners, and teaching within the first-year sequence as well as a Language and Culture of the US course for international students.  Also included are facilitating faculty development in pedagogies effective for ELL students, coordinating with other offices to develop academic programming for ELL students, and sharing administrative duties in the Reading/Writing Center. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of effective classroom teaching experience in college-level ELL, experience in one-on-one tutoring in ELL, writing and/or reading processes, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, administrators, and faculty.

Lecturer and Coordinator of English as an Additional Language— Columbia College Chicago

This full-time position includes teaching 3 courses per semester and a variety of Coordinator duties.  Applicants should have extensive experience working with multilingual learners and knowledge of a non-English language is preferred.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing public interest and education in architecture and design by presenting a comprehensive program of tours, exhibitions, lectures, special events, and adult and youth education activities.  The Grants Coordinator will assist the Director of Institutional Relations in achieving an annual $1M fundraising goal by securing grants from corporate, foundation and government sources. This position collaborates with a seven member development team in daily operations and special projects; works with other departments to assemble and maintain relevant information; and interacts with CAF’s external audience as necessary.  Candidates should have 2-3 years experience in nonprofit grant writing.

The assignment will be working on writing and updating private banking issues issues for a financial services company. Candidates should have proven technical writing skills and the capacity to deal with complex banking situations.
