Communications Manager — Northwestern University
The Block, Northwestern’s art museum, seeks an experienced, creative marketing and communications professional interested in joining the museum at a time of institutional growth and change. The Communications Manager will assist in developing and implementing a communications strategy that foregrounds the Block’s teaching and learning mission, its emphases on cross-cultural and interdisciplinary programs, and its role in the community. The Communications Manager will also help reposition the Block as a dynamic resource at Northwestern University, and within the cultural landscape of Chicago, nationally and internationally. As the Block presents its new identity and program, this position has the opportunity to bring innovative approaches to the museum’s entire communication efforts ‘working closely with the Associate Director of Engagement with the support of a part-time graphic designer/webmaster, multiple work-study students, and in collaboration with the larger engagement team. The manager of marketing and communication manages written and web communications, publications, marketing, and press programs, and serves as the primary liaison between the Block and the media in collaboration with Northwester’s Media Relations’ office. The position combines strategizing and writing stories, press relations, and project management around print, online, and social media communications.
Writing Center Coordinator — John Tyler Community College — Richmond, VA
John Tyler Community College is seeking to fill a twelve-month professional faculty position of Writing Center Coordinator. The Coordinator will oversee Writing Centers on both the Chester and Midlothian campuses and will supervise, assess, hire and train peer tutors and/or faculty volunteers. In addition to tutoring students, the candidate will teach one English composition course per spring, summer, and fall semester to equal 9 credits per calendar year. They will also advise students and actively serve on division and college committees. Responsibilities include maintaining confidential records of student information and tracking data to support the budget, payroll, programming, assessment, and external reporting needs for both Writing Centers. Other duties include, but are not limited to, creating promotional materials, maintaining an online presence, making presentations, and scheduling workshops and training sessions for tutors, faculty, and staff to support Writing Center activities. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to support delivery of writing and classroom instruction.
